A pioneer in the New World
In 1970 Edgardo "Tato" Palmero traveled to Napa Valley, California, to study new tendencies in the wine world. At the time, winegrowers and winemakers from California were eager to compete with Old World wines, and so they started to focus on producing high quality wines made from a sole varietal. They aimed at the pure expression of a single varietal. Moved by this revolutionary idea at the time, Casa Palmero imported vines from France and Italy, and in 1975 planted the first high quality vineyard in the area.
Worldwide Renowned Varietal Wines
Casa Palmero built its winery in 1980 and started producing high quality varietal wines. At the time, 90% of the production was exported under different labels. This was the first time Argentine wines were acknowledged to be able to compete with wines from the Old World, winning various awards which opened the doors of a market that is still growing.
